Now that I think about it, I did have to replace a fan in a Quadra I had about 10 years back. The more they are used the more wear and tear they will sustain, like anything mechanical. Fans are mechanical parts, and as such, will eventually burn out, though personally, I've never heard of anyone doing this. You will likely burn out your fans faster too, though I doubt anyone can predict how much faster. Run it too hot and you'll burn up the motherboard and very possibly more than that. Running the fans more, or faster, to cool the computer down is wise.
